1st Week
1st week of college in second year was a different kind of liberation. It seemed like they were no more "The freshers", but one year old. No more total juniors, soon junior juniors are going to be here, while super super seniors were gone, with hefty pay checks and respected jobs, breathing new dreams among 2nd year students, Hera, being one of them.
There was going to be a change, a big change, all classes were going to be mingled, mixed and set for next three years, for now the students will begin there specialization. Hera was nervous, what kind of people will they all be? Will he be able to make new friends? Would some one give him notes and more importantly, practical files and experiment write-ups.
Hera, had taken the "fine if absent" warning seriously, but not all of them, and attendance was lets say, none to nothing.
Day 1: Hera alone.
Day 2: Hera and two others.
Day 3: 7 in all.
Day 4: 14 made it.
Day 5: 20
Day 6: 50% came.
Day 7: was Sunday and
Day 8: All were there. And finally teachers were happy, and so were the college authorities. Soon the lists were out, sums of fine imposed and further the scheme was extended, now even if one lecture is missed 50 bucks were to be charged. But no one had made any payment till now.
The day list was announced, Monc had no other option but to cry foul. Among mischief mongers, some genuine cases were lost too. Monc on other hand did not have fine stars, he missed a class, only one, the 1st one and had to pay the price for whole day. But, he was not alone in this boat, and there was no mistake of his. For the new timetable meant, college started one hour earlier than last year, which was not propagated as much as the fine thing.
On other hand Hera was elated. Hera, was the only lucky person, to be spared the fine, despite being known case of delinquency among other so called delinquents. Hera, thanked Monc and then thanked his stars, for not being on the list. For, for the first time in his life he was declared, "the most sincere among all!"
Well, trouble had just started brewing, more was yet to come, for starters no one paid fine, and authorities never stopped the punishment.
